Shipping & Delivery Policy

Simon Jones Designs

This policy outlines how shipping, delivery, risk, and responsibility are handled for all orders placed with Simon Jones Designs. By placing an order with us, you agree to the terms below.

Order Types & Dispatch

Series I – Stock Boards

Series I boards are in stock and ready to go.

  • Orders are dispatched within 2–3 business days after payment confirmation (excluding weekends and public holidays).

  • Pickup can be arranged by appointment only, during business hours.

  • Same-day pickup may be available where possible, but must be confirmed with us in advance.

Series II – Custom Orders (Stock Dimensions)

Series II boards are built to order using our proven stock models, dimensions, and construction.

  • Please allow 10–12 weeks build time from order confirmation.

  • Shipping occurs after your board has been completed.

  • Build times are estimates only and may vary depending on workload and materials.

Shipping for Custom Orders

Shipping for custom boards works differently to stock boards. Please read carefully.

At checkout, all customers (domestic and international) are charged a base shipping rate.
This is not the final shipping price.

  • The base rate is a system-generated ticket that allows us to lock your custom order into production.

  • Once your board is nearing completion and we know its final size and destination, we will confirm the actual shipping cost with you.

  • Depending on location, this may result in an additional shipping charge, which must be paid before dispatch.

At checkout you will see two options:

  • Shipping – a base rate is charged to secure your order (final cost confirmed later)

  • Pickup – select this if you plan to collect your board in person in Byron Bay, NSW

If you choose pickup, no further shipping charges apply.

General shipping prices listed on our website are guides only and do not replace final quotes for custom orders.

Shipping Methods & Carriers

  • All freight is organised exclusively by Simon Jones Designs.

  • Customers may not arrange their own shipping, freight forwarders, or carriers.

  • Boards are shipped in custom-built heavy-duty surfboard cartons designed to protect them during transit.

  • All boards are fully insured while in transit, subject to the conditions outlined below.

Shipping Costs & Adjustments

  • Shipping costs vary based on board size, destination, and service availability.

  • Remote, rural, island, oversized, or restricted destinations may incur additional charges.

  • If final shipping costs exceed the base amount charged at checkout, the balance must be paid before dispatch.

  • If additional charges are declined, we reserve the right to cancel the order and refund the purchase minus any costs already incurred.

All international duties, taxes, VAT, GST, tariffs, customs charges, and brokerage fees are not shipping costs and are the responsibility of the customer.

We do not under-declare shipment values or mark orders as gifts.

Delivery, Risk & Responsibility

Risk transfers to the customer once the board is delivered to the address listed on the order and received at the property.

Once delivery has occurred:

  • The board is considered accepted

  • Responsibility transfers to the customer

If an issue occurs during transit, we will liaise directly with the freight carrier on your behalf.

Delays, Customs & Uncontrollable Events

Shipping times are estimates only. Delays may occur due to circumstances beyond our control, including but not limited to:

  • Weather events

  • Carrier delays or system failures

  • Port congestion

  • Customs inspections or processing delays

  • Strikes or industrial action

  • Government or tariff changes

Such delays are not grounds for cancellation, refund, or compensation.

If a shipment is delayed, held, or returned due to:

  • unpaid duties or taxes

  • incorrect delivery details

  • customer unavailability
any additional costs (including storage, re-delivery, or return shipping) are the responsibility of the customer.

Damage, Insurance & Claims

All boards are insured for their full value while in transit.

Damage Reporting (Strict Requirement)

If your board arrives damaged:

  • You must notify us within 12 hours of delivery

  • This timeframe is strict and non-negotiable

  • Failure to report within 12 hours voids insurance and liability

To lodge a claim, you must:

  • Retain all packaging and cartons

  • Take clear photos of:

    • the external box

    • internal packaging

    • all visible damage to the board

  • Email all images as soon as the damage is noticed to
    info@simonjonesdesigns.com
Subject line: URGENT – DAMAGED BOARD

All packaging must be retained until the claim is fully resolved.

Resolution of Damage

If a claim is approved:

  • Minor damage may be repaired at our cost

  • Major damage may result in a full remake of the board

The method of resolution is determined at our discretion, based on severity and feasibility.

Pickup & Third-Party Handling

For pickup orders:

  • Responsibility transfers immediately once the board is collected

If a board is collected or handled by a third party (including shops, freight depots, or individuals), Simon Jones Designs is not responsible for damage or loss once the board has been handed over.

International Shipping Notes

International customers are responsible for ensuring they understand import requirements in their country.

If a shipment is refused entry, delayed, or returned by customs authorities, any associated costs are the responsibility of the customer.

Shipping Price Guide & Information

At Simon Jones Designs, we ship surfboards worldwide. Every board is packed properly, sent with care, and priced transparently.

All boards are shipped in custom-built, heavy-duty cartons and are fully insured for transit. We don’t mark up freight. You pay exactly what it costs us to ship.

At checkout, your shipping is automatically calculated. If something seems off, simply get in touch and we’ll provide you with a quote.

If something goes wrong in transit, we’ll sort it properly.

  • For minor cosmetic damage, we’ll organise a professional repair to bring the board back to like-new condition.

  • If a board arrives with structural damage that affects how it rides, we’ll cover the full cost and remake your board at no extra charge.

Every situation is different, but the approach stays the same. We take responsibility and make it right.

Important Notes

  • International orders may be subject to duties or tariffs. These are set by your country and are the responsibility of the customer.

  • Orders will not be released from the freight carrier until these charges are paid.
